According to the data of the State Statistical Office, a total of 1,061 illegally built structures were registered on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia in 2015.
According to the type, the number of illegally built structures is the following: 232 housing units) (21.9 percent); 163 extensions, alterations and adaptations (15.4 percent); 104 business buildings (9.8 percent); 82 garages (7.7 percent); 164 fences (15.5 percent); 18 stairs (1.7 percent); 26 terraces (2.5 percent); 11 summer terraces (1.0 percent); 78 canopies (7.4 percent); 55 temporary structures (5.2 percent) and 128 auxiliary structures (12.1 percent).
Most of the illegally built constructions are in private ownership (98.4 percent).
