
Majority of Montenegro citizens support the country's NATO accession, Defense Minister Milica Pejanovic-Djurisic has said.
"Montenegro is a democratic country that takes into account the people's opinion. Majority of our citizens support the NATO membership", said Pejanovic-Djurisic, adding that supporters outnumber opponents by about ten percent.
The Montenegro Defense Minister took part at a Washington conference hosted by the Atlantic Council titled "The Future of NATO Enlargement and New Frontiers in European Security".
Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic recently said Montenegro is expected to join the Alliance in mid 2017, being the third Western Balkans country, after Albania and Croatia, to become a member of the bloc.
