Opposition protesters closed down several busy intersections in the capital Skopje, in what is a new phase of their protests.
Protesters affiliated with the SDSM opposition party stopped their two months long evening rallies during which they threw paint at public buildings, and will continue using the new tactic of road closures.
The four downtown Skopje intersections were closed for about an hour, between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm, with several dozen protesters and a few vehicles parked at each one. Long lines of cars formed, as police tried to redirect traffic to the few still open boulevards.
One incident was reported, when protesters attacked a man who believed he will be allowed to pass because he was riding a motorcycle. Several opposition protesters attacked him at the blockade near the St. Clement of Ohrid church.
