The Mayor of Ohrid Nikola Bakracheski held a press conference to present his work over the past three years. On 200 pages, Bakracheski informed that the debts of the main tourism resort city in Macedonia were reduced by nearly EUR 10 million, all the while many construction projects were completed.
"Despite the political crisis, that affected our work, we were able to realize the program for financial stabilization of the city and to prove that the decades long saga with our excessive debt can be resolved", Mayor Bakracheski said.
The Mayor of Ohrid said that his administration has rebuilt main and local streets across the city and near-by areas, has reconstructed a number of kindergartens and introduced scholarships for talented students and financial aid for new parents. Part of his work included presenting the city at tourism fairs across Europe.
Ohrid was also put back on the industrial map, with the arrival of German ODV Elektrik that is taking over part of the old EMO industrial zone and will also build a new plant between Ohrid and Struga.
