The youth female choir of the Youth Cultural Center (MKC), conducted by Saso Tatarcevski, won 2 awards at the 6th international choir competition in the frames of the Vratislavia Sacra festival, held June 3-6 in Wroclaw, Poland.
According to the Ministry of Culture, the youth female choir's performance at the Wroclaw festival was held in the frames of the event "Wroclaw - European Capital of Culture 2016".
In the choir competition of several European countries, the MKC choir won two first prizes in the categories of single-gendered choir, and in gospel and spiritual singing. Conductor Tatarcevski won three prizes for best conductor from three different juries comprised of members of the Wroclaw Music Academy.
This international activity, supported by the Culture Ministry's annual program, represents a great success in the international affirmation of the Macedonian choral art, especially taking into consideration that the MKC female youth choir is one of the ensembles with the longest tradition in Macedonia.
In its 40-year history, this choir has won a number of awards at festivals around the world, among which golden medals at competitions in the Czech Republic and Croatia, as well as three high awards at the International Choir Competition "Liviu Borlan" in Baia Mare in Romania.
