Greek authorities, in the country's largest port, Piraeus seized a huge shipment of painkillers after being informed that it was intended for the members of the so-called "Islamic state", the Department for Financial Crime in Greece announced on Friday.
"Tanjug" reports that more than 26 million drugs were found in a container declared as containing textile goods, adding that the Greek authorities have received assistance from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Participant in the operation said the drugs were shipped from India to Piraeus and that with another ship were to be transferred to Libya, the American media reported.
Greece, as it noted, received information that the Libyan company, which was to receive the consignment of drugs served as a conduit for "Islamic state". Jihadist group, as they said, used these drugs for its fighters or sold them for profit.
