Germany: Angela Merkel's Cabinet Approved New Anti-terror Measures

German Ministry of Interior Affairs announced that the cabinet of Chancellor Angela Merkel approved a package of new measures to combat terrorism.

One of the main measures in the proposals of the government in Berlin, which will have to be approved by parliament is to increase the level of exchange of information with other countries.

"International terrorist organizations are networked internationally and therefore security agencies should connect better", Interior Minister Thomas de Mazier said, explaining the proposals.

Other measures to combat terrorism include the possibility agents of the German security services to work clandestinely, especially in infiltration into smuggling networks as well as obligatory providing personal data when purchasing pre - paid phone cards in order to facilitate the monitoring of terror suspects.
