All the insulins used in the country are from the top world manufacturers and they are used in most developed health systems in the world. The delivery of insulin in pharmacies is performed according to the prescriptions of the physicians-specialists and fully complies with the law on health care, as well as the guidelines and protocols in this area, it is said in a written response of the Ministry of Health at the press conference of the MP from the opposition party SDSM Jagoda Sahpaska.

Sahpaska said that the new tender for insulin that ended on Monday projected reduction of analogues in favor of so-called human insulin. She added that with the new tender the ratio between analogues and human insulins is 50:50 and that there is a reduction of the delivery of analogues in pharmacies by 25 percent.

Ministry of Health in its response adds that the party SDSM is trying to create panic among people with diabetes, to create a completely false picture of the situation with insulin therapy in the country, thereby abusing, as it stands, this vulnerable group of patients.

"Full untrue is the conclusion that Macedonia ever had insulin crisis. The quantities of insulin in all insulin pharmacies in the country, fully corresponds to the needs of patients with diabetes mellitus who require insulin therapy. Party SDSM, probably encouraged by knowing how in their time is tenders for insulins were implemented now spread unnecessary panic and fear among people with diabetes, "it is said in the statement from the Ministry of Health.

Hence they require the MP Sahpaska to answer whether pharmaceutical companies are financing this, as it says, negative smear campaign being waged against the Ministry, and on the back of a sensitive group of patients - those with diabetes.
