The trail against the two members from 'Levica', Zdravko Saveski and Vladimir Kunovski, was postponed again due to the defense not receiving the expert evidence for the assessment of damages to President Ivanov's National Office at the June 10 protest.
Lawyer Saso Dukovski said that he still has not received the assessment report on the damage, which was estimated at MKD 522,080, and that is why he demanded for a postponement. The representative from the Public Prosecution, said that the expert evidence and remarks were delivered to the Court on May 23, two days after the postponement of the previous hearing, but he did not know why they did not reach the defense.
The judge in charge of the case said that the expert evidence and opinion report were sent to the defense on May 25, but that she does not know why they have not received them.
The last hearing on May 19 was postponed due to the defense not receiving the expert evidence report.
Saveski and Kunovski were arrested on April 13 at a protest against the decision of Gjorge Ivanov for the abolition of all politicians. They are suspected of partaking in a crowd which intends to commit a criminal act. They were issued an eight day house arrest measure, which was extended to 30 days. Last week, the Criminal Court extended their detention for another 30 days.
Before the start of the trial, several member of Levica were gathered before the court. They asked the Appellate Court to suspend the detention measures against Saveski and Kunovski.
Branimir Jovanovic says that the decision for house arrest was issued under pressure and that it is a political, not judicial decision.
"This happens when demonstrators are put under pressure and when they are called in for informative talks to police stations. Last night, one was even taken in. Even though our judicial system is the way it is, we believe that a just decision will be made in regards to our friends and co-protesters, Jovanovic said.
