After a migrant blockade of the railway on Corridor 10 that lasted more than 70 days, rail freight traffic has resumed between Skopje and Thessaloniki.
"Due to the migrant crisis, the railway traffic between Greece and Macedonia was completely blocked on the Greek side at Idomeni. The blockade, directly and indirectly, caused great damages to business owners in Macedonia and the region. With the rail blockade, the transport of goods to Macedonia ceased, but also exporters could not deliver their goods to customers from abroad., the report of Macedonian Railways said.
It was also stated that the blockade negatively influenced the financial situation of the company, since it was not able to realize its scheduled transports to and from Thessaloniki.
