On the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day, all interested Skopje citizens will be able to get free tests of their lungs' capacities, as part of the event that is taking place at the Skopje City Mall on Tuesday.
Medical teams of the Lungs Diseases Institute will perform the exams from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, while presenting at the same time materials regarding the harmful effects of smoking.
People will also have the opportunity to fill out a questionnaire with general data on their smoking habits, such as the time they spent smoking, the number of daily consumed cigarettes, whether they cough or not, etc. They will also be able to fill out another questionnaire on the money they spend on buying cigarettes and what they think the benefits would be if they quit smoking.
Skopje City Mall and Prosvetno Delo publishing house will launch an initiative - those who will throw away their packs of cigarettes will get a book on health.
The motto of the World Health Organization this year is 'Prepare yourself for simple, common packs of cigarettes', which means ban or restrictive use of logos, images, messages on the packs themselves. The move is aimed at decreasing the product's appeal and increasing people's care for their health. Only the name of the product and the brand can be feature the pack, in different color.
