By 52 'for' and 33 'against', Macedonia's lawmakers gave green light Monday for a commission to be set up to evaluate a proposal of the opposition SDSM for opening an impeachment proceeding against President Gjorge Ivanov over his pardoning decision.
The Commission is made up of six members of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE, per two from ruling coalition partner DUI and opposition SDSM, and one of opposition DPA. VMRO-DPMNE MP Zoran Ilioski is appointed for the Commission's chairman.
The commission should assess the impeachment proposal in seven days and submit a report that would be a subject of discussion in the highest legislative institution. The impeachment motion requires an approval of a two-third of the lawmakers to be set into effect.
