On Saturday, a flotilla of European ships rescued 668 migrants from smuggler boats in distress in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Libya, Italian authorities report.
The migrants were rescued by the Italian coastguard and navy ships, aided by Irish and German vessels and humanitarian groups.
The Irish military declared that the vessel Le Roisin rescued 123 migrants from a rubber dinghy and that a male body was recovered.
A German ship on patrol to intercept smuggler boats, took part in four rescue operations, the Italian coastguard informed.
