
Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations sent more than 250 people for extinguishing a fire in the building of the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, which was initially localized, but then flared up again and engulfed all the floors, TASS reports.
"Now on the site for the extinguishing are 253 persons and 72 vehicles, including 17 escalators, and they will be further increased", the Russian news agency reported citing the press service of the Ministry for Emergencies, adding that so far there is no details of any casualties.
The flame has been extended to all floors of the building in the center of the Russian capital. The flames swept an area of 3,500 square meters of the building Znamenjki in downtown Moscow.
"The fire spread to all floors of the old building in Znamenjki. More than 30 fire and rescue teams were called", a police source cited for TASS.
Earlier the Russian news agency said the fire, that broke out this morning, on the third floor of the building of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, is localized and that the cause was a short circuit.
Fire brigades, which arrived in the building discovered smoke.
There are no victims,the press service of the Moscow police cited.
In place of the fire arrived the Chief of the Russian Army Valery Gerasimov, First Deputy Defense Minister Ruslan Calikov and Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Aleksandar Chuprijan, as well as the First Deputy Mayor of Moscow Pyotr Birjukov.
