The spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will kick off in Tirana, Albania on Friday and will take place in the next three days.
The security measures undertaken by authorities have been visibly boosted.
"All six commissariats in Tirana are in a state of alert in order to secure the summit's activities. The nine hotels that will accommodate the 600 delegates are under a strong police security, which also uses dogs able to detect explosive devices," Tirana-based TV Top Channel said.
According to the same source, the hotels' interior will be secured by the military police and the armed forces. Also, part of the measures are to be implemented by the Albanian secret service, its intelligence agency, as well as the national guard that will secure the Palace of Congress where the work part of the spring session will be held.
Traffic on the streets surrounding the Palace of Congress will be limited in the next three days, while pedestrians are banned to move in the vicinity of the edifice.
The fast deployment police unit and other special police and army units will be on high alert during the meeting's duration. They will monitor the situation and be situated at the higher buildings around the Congress Palace.
