President Gjorge Ivanov sent Monday congratulation note to the representatives of the Vlach community in the Republic of Macedonia on the occasion of National Day of Vlachs-May 23.
In the year when we celebrate 25 years since the independence of the Republic of Macedonia, our common homeland passes through serious challenges. But there’s one thing that gives us courage and commitment on our path and it is Macedonian tradition of coexistence, respect and acceptance of diversity. It is assurance that Macedonia is homeland of all its citizens, regardless of ethnic, religious, lingual and any other affiliation. Vlachs are inseparable part of the past, present and future of Macedonia.
As loyal and dedicated citizens who are successful in all social fields, Vlachs actively contribute to building a common home, inherited from ancestors and that we will leave to our children. As before, so in the future, I will advocate for further fostering and disseminating Vlach tradition and culture in the country, Ivanov said in the congratulation note.
Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev on behalf of the government and on his behalf also extended congratulation to the members of the Vlach community in Macedonia.
National Day of Vlachs is celebrated for tenth consecutive year in Macedonia and Vlach community represent main symbol of respect for one of the most authentic cultures living in the country. The Vlach culture, warmth and peacefulness are integral part of Macedonian society and the Vlach community has made important historical, social and cultural contribution to the modern Macedonian state. Therefore, Vlachs are an inseparable part of the past, present and future of the country.
Congratulating the holiday Dimitriev expressed his assurance that with joint efforts we will continue to work in the interest of the Republic of Macedonia and the interest of better life of our citizens and progress in every area of importance for the country.
