Subway in Athens will not run this weekend, while the buses, trolleybuses will stop working as of Sunday because of the strike of trade unions in protest against a package of laws drafted by the government, newspaper "Kathimerini" announced.
Members of the transport unions will gather for a meeting on Sunday in front of the Parliament. Trade union leaders are expected to meet again on Monday to decide whether to take following actions.
Officers at the ports of Piraeus and Thessaloniki will also halt their work during the weekend. They are protesting against privatization plans of both organizations.
