Over 1,200 high school graduates from Skopje and 1,300 from across the country will participate in the traditional parades and quadrille dancing events.
In Skopje, the dance will be held at the main square, with students from 20 high schools attending. Identical events begin at noon in Struga, Ohrid, Strumica, Valandovo, Gevgelija and Negotino. This is the tenth time the event has been organized.
"Before the parade starts, the graduates will give statements promoting non-violence and improving tolerance among the young people", said Nikola Gligorov, one of the organizers of the event.
The parades are supported by the Mission of the European Union in Macedonia and the city of Skopje. It started as an event organized in Ljubljana in 2001, and was was later adopted by Skopje and Ohrid, through the Ritam Plus dance studio.
