Until Wednesday, a total of 62 oxen have been confirmed to have lumpy skin disease, and 829 have been affected, i.e. suspected to be infected.
A total of 362 herds have been slaughtered and safely destroyed, and around 53 hotbeds have been found in 14 municipalities - Demir Kapija, Stip, Radovis, Delcevo, Bosilovo, Vasilevo, Dojran, Novo Selo, Valandovo, Pehcevo, Berovo, Vinica, Gevgelija and Makedonska Kamenica.
"The number of diseased and affected animals is now 0.3 percent of the total population of cattle in the country, which is far less than other countries in the region (Bulgaria, or Greece), where the numbers reach up to 7.500," the Agency for Food and Veterinary in formed.
According to the Agency, measures have been undertaken on time, in order to stop the disease from spreading.
"We address farmers to follow the recommendations for protection of animals and farms, because only with appropriate and timely undertaken measure, can we expect the number of diseased cattle to drop," the Agency stated.
