Ali Ahmeti, head of the DUI party, welcomed the announcement by the Constitutional Court on Wednesday that they will open an assessment procedure over the decision of the Parliament to dissolve itself. The Court also moved to temporarily suspend the decision, stopping all election related activities.

DUI, which initially voted to dissolve the Parliament paving way for the elections on June 5, but later decided not to take part in the elections after the opposition SDSM party stood firm in its decision to boycott, submitted the proposal to the Constitutional Court to re-examine the decision. The move comes as diplomats from the United States and the European Union are working with the four major political parties in Macedonia over the blocked implementation of the political agreement reached last summer.

"I welcome today's decision of the Constitutional Court, which enables the Parliament to return to work, as a first step needed to resolve the serious political crisis. I call on all leaders, media and the civil society to act with full responsibility, bearing in mind the situation our country is in, and to contribute to return of security, stability, and to strongly work for a serious reform agenda", Ahmeti wrote on his Facebook page.
