Quietly and without giving one statement to the media, Germany's special envoy Johannes Haindl has left Macedonia, Telegraf.mk reads.
According to the brief press release issued by the German embassy to Skopje, he came with the original aim to learn about the positions of the four major political parties on overcoming the crisis. Haindl held meetings on Thursday and Friday with Nikola Gruevski, Zoran Zaev, Ali Ahmeti and Menduh Thaci.
Following the meeting with the VMRO-DPMNE leader, Gruevski said his party was committed to finding solutions for a quick exit from the political crisis. The other party leaders presented their views on swift postponement of the early June 5 parliamentary elections.
This request is likely to be fulfilled, after the State Election Commission announced Friday it will call the convention of the Assembly so it could annul the decision on holding the ballot on June 5.
The other demands that have been put forward by Haindl are the thorough revision of the electoral roll and urgent reforms in the media sphere. However, the most important request the international factor insists upon is the withdrawal of the general abolition decision passed by President Gjorge Ivanov.
It remains unclear why Haindl did not hold a joint meeting with the leaders of all four parties that signed the Przino Agreement last summer.
It is baffling because the next stop of the German diplomat is Athens, especially if the fact that he came to learn about the internal political crisis in Macedonia and that it has nothing to do with the bilateral name issue with Greece is taken under consideration.
According to the announcements, Haindl is expected to arrive in Skopje next week and hold a new round of talks.
