
Frequent cases of corruption prompted the EU delegation in Albania to once again call the Albanian political leadership to urgently implement reforms in the judiciary system, MIA reports from Tirana.
When a country starts accession negotiations, the fight against corruption is one of the issues that first need to be considered. That is also the reason why EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn said that it is very significant the reforms in the judiciary to be adopted before the summer break, which would enable the European Commission to give a positive recommendation in the fall, Jan Rudolph of the EU delegation in Tirana stressed.
According to Tirana-based television Top Channel, which reported his statement, every second Albanian citizen thinks that political officials demand bribes, directly or indirectly.
As for confidence in government's anti-corruption policy, it reached its lowest level in 15 years.
