Working groups of the European Union and Turkey on Thursday approved projects amounting to EUR 1 billion in the negotiations on the allocation of EUR 3 billion agreed earlier between the EU and Ankara intended for migration issues.
Thursday's projects are in support of Syrian refugees housed in Turkish camps.
At Thursday's meeting the European Commission positively assessed the implemented projects, for which EUR 200 million were allocated last month.
Under the agreement, EUR 1 billion will be provided from the EU budget and the other EUR 2 billion from the European countries by the end of next year. So far 22 Member States of the EU expressed willingness to provide a total of EUR 1.61 billion.
