Ten private retirement homes are to open through the Government grants in the amount of MKD 750,000 (EUR 12,000), said Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy Dime Spasov on Thursday.
The Government has already secured funds in the amount of about MKD 7.4 million (EUR 120,000) intended for the opening of ten private retirement homes, thus creating additional capacities for 400-500 elderly persons and opening of 40-50 new jobs.
The Government measures, including purchase of land intended for construction of such homes at EUR 1 per square meter, reduced the construction taxes, as well as favorable loans from the Macedonian Bank for Development Promotion, have resulted in the opening of 17 retirement homes over the past three years.
The retirement home needs to provide accommodation for at least 40 persons and open at least four jobs.
