The Public Revenue Office has appealed to protesters who have targeted its building with paint to refrain from causing further damage, given that the building is being renovated with the support from the European Union IPA program.

"The funds being used to refurbish and adapt the building have been provided by EU taxpayers and in order to restore the building to its previous state and repair the damage that has been made, it will be necessary to use additional funds from the Macedonia budget. We appeal to the citizens to be careful not to damage buildings that are visibly marked as a contribution from EU taxpayers", the Public Revenue Office informed Thursday.

Demonstrators against the president's abolition decision and some affiliated with left-wing NGO groups have organized protests almost every day for a three ongoing weeks, objecting the decision of President Gjorge Ivanov to issue sweeping pardons to political leaders and their associates from both SDSM and the ruling VMRO-DPMNE party against dozens of charges Ivanov declared were politically motivated.

The initially violent protests later turned into events that saw paint thrown against a designated target for the day.

The protesters, of the self-proclaimed 'Colorful Revolution' threw paint at the Public Revenue Office building over claims that the public debt is increasing.
