Switzerland Introduces Payment with Bitcoin in Small Town Zug

Swiss town of Zug is the first municipality that accepted the digital currency Bitcoin as a means in the administrative matters. The city administration has decided that from July 1 the citizens could pay administrative services to 200 francs.

It is the first time in the world a government institution to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment. Zug is a town of about 30 thousand inhabitants.

Bitcoin is a payment system that originated in 2009 as a program with open source. This is a digital currency, also called and virtual currency, electronic money or cryptocurrency because of the cryptography used in the creation and transfer.
