In order not to leave room for repeated manipulation with the election date scheduled for June 5, DUI has decided late on Thursday night to withdraw all its ministers from the Government led by technical Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev.
The news was confirmed by DUI lawmaker, Artan Grubi, who shared the information on his Facebook profile.
"The party has reaffirmed the statuary right and has authorized the leader, Ali Ahmeti, to decide on DUI's further moves. In the next few days, DUI will notify the international community and the local authorities on the changes in its policy," Grubi wrote.
The Democratic Union for Integration has nine ministers in the Government, which is more than a third of its members, which is comprised of 26 ministers including the prime minister.
Under the Macedonian Constitution, if the prime minster proposes a change of at least a third of the Government's members, the Assembly decides on the election of a new Government for which there is practically no time given the prescribed date for the legislature's dissolution, which expires on April 7. Without the legislature and without the government, the general election in the country will simply have to be held. According to the latest deal, the parliamentary elections will be held on June 5.
