Macedonia's State Election Commission is to state on Friday which parties have submitted proposals on candidates who are to be elected members of its electoral boards for the June 5 elections.

The deadline for this possibility expired on Thursday midnight and ruling VMRO-DPMNE is the only party that used that opportunity. DUI and DPA were expected to do the same, while SDSM and its announcement on boycotting the elections, said it will not file such a proposal.

Officials with the SEC explained that political parties first submit their proposals on electoral boards' members at the municipal branches, therefore they refuse to rush releasing information on whether or not the parties have indeed delivered such proposals.

If the parties fail to do so within the prescribed time period, then the members of the electoral boards are to be filled by administrative employees.

Under the Electoral Code, the electoral boards are comprised of five members. Two are elected from the lines of the ruling and opposition parties and the remaining ones from the public sector.

The next deadline that needs to be observed by the parties that wish to run at the elections is May 11, when they need to submit the lists of candidates for lawmakers.
