
Greece's government has prepared a plan to evacuate the refugees stranded at the Idomeni makeshift camp by the end of May, warning that if they are not accommodated in the other official reception centers, their residence permits will not be renewed.
Immigration Policy Minister Ioannis Mouzalas has held meetings with representatives of humanitarian organizations and the police in the past few days with the purpose of presenting the government's plan whose aim is to put an end to the problems arising from the refugees stranded at the Idomeni village near the border with Macedonia.
Mouzalas has asked the police and civil representatives to cooperate with the government in cleaning the surroundings in Idomeni by May 30.
According to latest information, there are around 53,900 refugees in Greece, 10,124 of whom are still located in Idomeni.
The remaining number is accommodated in other regions across the country.
