The parents of missing Marjan Stanojevic, a 17-year-old boy with vision impairment who disappeared on April 25 in front of the main Skopje trade center where he collected money for a surgery, have not received any information that would help them locate their child, Telegraf.mk has learnt.
The latest credible information they got from the police is that Marjan has left for Serbia on a bus.
"They told us he got on a Nis Express bus but we don't know if he got down in Vranje or in Nis. Maybe he's somewhere in Serbia. We are calling on everyone, if someone sees our son, if he recognizes him, to tell us or notify the police," says Viki, Marjan's mother.
The parents reported the incident in the police the following day (April 26), because they were waiting for the 24-hour period to expire to declare him a person missing.
The mother claims the first and last time Marjan was in Serbia was last month when his father drove him to the hospital in Nis to schedule an eye operation. Otherwise, Marjan had no problems in terms of moving around in Skopje.
"He's big, he can walk alone but he always returned home. We talked on the phone that day, he told me he would catch the bus and come back home. I called him 15 minutes later, but his phone was off. Since then, I have no trace of him, as he was swallowed by live ground. He has no problems except that he can become disoriented sometimes. I guess that's what has happened," the mother said.
The information that he was spotted in Resen or in Bitola proved to be incorrect.
Officials with the Interior Ministry's sector in Skopje say they are still searching for the boy. Telegraf.mk has sent questions to the Serbian Interior Ministry and it expects to receive an answer soon on whether the police there is also looking for the vanished Marjan Stanojevic.
The teenager suffers from 80% sight damage on both eyes. He was collecting money for his surgery while sitting down in front of the trade center in Skopje from where he went missing. He wore blue jeans and a denim jacket.
If someone sees Marjan, he or she could contact the parents by dialing +389 78/ 83 70 74 or turn to the nearest police station.
