
The College of Commissioners of the European Commission adopted a proposal Wednesday, and delivered it to the European Council and the European Parliament, regarding EU visa liberalization for Turkey and Kosovo, MIA correspondent from Brussels reported.
In terms of the visa liberalization for Turkish citizens, the proposals comes as part of the EU-Turkey deal on the migrant crisis, which according the 28-member bloc, obliges EU to allow Turkey visa-free travel by the end of June 2016, while Turkish authorities have to meet their commitments for visa liberalization.
The proposal of the EU's informal government was presented Wednesday, along with the report on Turkey's progress in terms of completing the obligations of this plan. The visa liberalization is a key component for Turkey in order to fulfill the EU-Turkey deal of March 18, 2016.
In regards to Kosovo, a country not yet recognized by 5 EU member states, the proposal for visa liberalization has been presented along with the positive evaluation of the European Commission which confirmed that Kosovo meets the demands for the visa liberalization process.
If everything goes accordingly, and the European Parliament and the European Council adopt the proposal, citizens of Turkey and Kosovo will be able to travel visa-free inside the European Union.
