A person who falsified passports for the needs of the Islamic State, Algierian national Jamal Wali, was arrested in Austria.

He allegedly forged the passports used by Islamic State members who are behind the Paris terror attacks that took place in November last year.

The travel documents Wali forged were used by the jihadists to get through police control in Austria.

Salah Abdeslam and two other terrorists, who in September last year had stayed in Austria, used the false passports to pass the police control.

Besides the arrest warrants issued by several European countries, Wali was traveling across the continent freely, and he was arrested in Brenner Pass on the border with Italy.

The forged documents were apparently of a high quality, as the police did not become suspicious of the fake passports and let their users pass the control.

Police presume Wali attempted to escape from Belgium and hide in Italy together with his wife.
