
Turkey's air forces and the US-led coalition's pilotless aircraft have carried out attacks on Islamic State targets in northern Syria, killing 63 of the jihadist fighters, Turkish air forces said Tuesday.
The army announced it artillery units and drones have defeated several Islamic State targets, killing 34 of their militants. The attacks that have started on Monday were conducted as a response to the Islamic State rocket attacks in the Turkish province of Kilis. The Turkish forces first hit six cars and five Islamic State strategic positions.
Turkish rockets first hit Islamic State positions some 12 kilometers south from the border with Syria, and then four drones that took off from the Incirlik base in southern Turkey and destroyed the remaining targets, the army added.
In the coalition forces' operation, 29 Islamic State fighters were killed. Kilis and the surrounding areas located on the border between the two countries are often targeted by Islamic State rocket attacks in the pas few months.
