In the vicinity of the town of Demir Kapija, police have discovered 24 migrants from Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran inside a freight vehicle carrying Skopje license plates.

According to the Interior Ministry, a mixed patrol team of police officers from Bogorodica border crossing and from Croatia, have spotted a Ford Transit truck on Thursday night around 9:30 pm. The vehicle had Skopje license plates and was driving with a great speed toward Demir Kapija. The police officers started a chase and made an attempt to pull it over. By exiting the main road and entering a local one, the Ford truck kept on driving. After a while, the driver stopped the truck, went out and started to run.

When the police officers approached the truck they discovered 24 migrants inside, 16 of whom were from Afghanistan, three from Iraq and five from Iran. They were all delivered to the police station in the town of Negotino. After consulting with a public prosecutor, seven persons were accommodated at the Interior Ministry's reception center for foreigners, while the other 17 people were returned to Greece.

Measures are being taken to find the driver and complete clearing out of the case.
