Good Friday is the day of Christ's passions. They start at the Gethsemane garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, most famous as the place where Jesus prayed and his disciples slept the night before his crucifixion.
The last supper was also held in Gethsemane, where Christ announced his parting words and shared his last lesson to his apostles (John, Chapters 15 and 16). In order to make the message clear and well understood, he gave the example with the vine rod which gives fruit if its attached to the plant, not when it is cut off.
He said: "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing," adding the comfort lies in the following parable: "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."
After pronouncing these words, Christ was done with his final lesson presented to his apostles and commenced the famous Gethsemane Prayer.
Jesus' passions also start on Good Friday in the garden.
