The lake resort town of Dojran expects to see up to 15,000 visitors for the long Easter weekend.
"There are no more beds available for the weekend. We estimate that between 12,000 and 15,000 guests from Macedonia and abroad will come to Dojran. Beds in private homes cost around MKD 300 per night, and apartments rent for between MKD 1,000 and 1,500. Bed and breakfast in the hotels reaches between MKD 1,200 and 1,500", Pero Mitanoski, from the Dojran Tourism Bureau said.
DJs from Macedonia, Greece and Bulgaria will be giving beach parties during the four-day weekend, that begins on Friday.
Dojran is seeing a revival of its tourism fate, with the lake recovering after it was overused for irrigation purposes by farmers from Greece. A water supply system built on the Macedonian side 15 years ago helped return it to its previous level.
