
The Appellate Court has confirmed the verdict regarding Naser Estrefi, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison for murdering the high school graduate Angel Petkovski in Skopje, on May 19, 2014.
The ruling rendered by the court of first instance was passed in July last year.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Estrefi committed a premeditated murder and was fully aware he committed the crime.
The tragic event occurred on May 19, two years ago. Before Angel was murdered, the defendant stole a bicycle from the yard of the victim's home. After the robbery, Angel and his father started to chase after the thief, and a fight occurred when the three persons got near the Vardar River bank. Estrefi then pulled out a knife and stabbed Angel who died in his father's arms.
The fatal event prompted mass protests in the neighborhood of Gjorce Petrov where Angel used to live. The demonstrators clashed with the police and several people were reportedly injured.
