In accordance with the EU-Ankara deal for halting the inflow of migrants and refugees, Greek officials reported Wednesday that 12 Syrians have been returned to Turkey, including one woman and 4 children, and they also announced the construction of 4 new camps. The group of migrants was flown from Lesbos to Adana by a Frontex plane. In line with the deal, 386 people have been returned to Turkey so far.

Greece also announced the construction of 4 new refugee/migrant camps, so it can gradually close down the Idomeni camp.

The spokesperson in charge of refugee issues and migration, Giorgos Kiritsis, said that the Government is hoping to accommodate at least 4,500 people in new and already existing camps over the next 10 days, which is more than a third of the people currently at Idomeni. Kiritsis pointed out that the camps will be built in 4 areas around Thessaloniki.
