The US Army announced it has destroyed estimated USD 800 million in cas, that were stored by the Islamic State or Iraq and Syria.
General Peter Gersten said that the US Air Force has targeted ISIS financial reserves a number of times, hoping that leaving the terror group without funding would reduce its ability to maintain its fighting force.
The announcement of the strike comes as President Barack Obama said he will send additional 250 special operations forces to Syria in the coming weeks.
The role of the soldiers would be to help train militants associated with the United States in their fight against ISIS.
