
Following 8 hours of interrogation at the Criminal Court in Skopje, the prime suspect in the 'Fort' case, the chief of the Interior Ministry's so-called 'Fifth Directorate', Goran Grujovski, was sentenced late on Wednesday to a 30-day detention.
Grujovski came to the court on Wednesday afternoon on his own free will, where he was interrogated in relation to the allegations on his involvement in the destruction of the wiretapping equipment that was previously procured by the Interior Ministry.
Grujovski's attorneys were present at the hearing, as well as representatives of the Special Prosecutor's Office. The decision for his detention was announced by the Criminal Court.
"A judge with the Basic Court Skopje 1 (Criminal Court), acting in line with the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office for crimes related to and arising from the content of the illegally intercepted communications on sentencing the suspect G.G. to detention, filed at the court on Tuesday, after the hearing of the suspect, has passed a decision to accept the Prosecutor's proposal to sentence him to a 30-day detention," the press release issued by the Criminal Court reads.
The parties involved in the case have the right to appeal the decision withing 24 hours, the court added.
