
Maarten Roland Wand Shipp aged 33 from the Netherlands has been deported from Macedonia and is facing a conditional prison sentence for illegal possession of marijuana.
On March 3, at the Bogorodica border crossing between Macedonia and Greece, the total of 16 grams of marijuana were found, discovered during the control of a Dutch jeep, driven by Dutch resident Wand Shipp, who was trying to leave the country.
A paper bag containing a nylon bag with 18 plastic tubes with a net weight of 72 grams was discovered bellow the co-driver's seat. After the performed tests, it was concluded that the tubes contained marijuana mixed with tobacco.
The Dutch citizen purchased the marijuana in a coffee shop in the Netherlands, and rolled it in joints on his own, which he placed in the tubes. According to his own words, the marijuana was for personal use only.
The foreigner received two fines in relation to the crime of illegal production and trade of narcotic drugs. The first penalty consists of his deportation from Macedonia and a ban to enter the country in the next two years, while the second one is a conditioned prison sentence, if he commits the same crime in Macedonia in the next two years. If the repeats the crime he could face five years in prison.
