Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban came out in support of EU enlargement toward Macedonia and Serbia. In an interview with German media, Orban said that adding these two countries, and others, to the EU, would give the Union fresh bout of energy.
"These is no energy to maintain the historic perspective. Therefore everybody in the EU is now against enlargement, except some central-European countries. I am for enlargement, primarily with Macedonia and Serbia", Orban said.
The Hungarian Prime Minister added that it is not possible to have Greece as a member of the EU, while her northern neighbors are left out. "You can't have blank spots in the EU. The migrant crisis showed this very clearly. If we initiate a real enlargement, that would give additional energy to the EU", said Orban.
