Protest in Vienna: Macedonians Asked the EU Not to Prevent June 5 Elections

Macedonians from the diaspora in Austria on Friday in large numbers gathered and held a protest in front of the "House of the European Union" in the center of Vienna, where at noon was scheduled meeting of political leaders in Macedonia with the EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn and the MEPs, but was canceled due to refusal to appear of the SDSM leader Zoran Zaev, MIA reports from Vienna.

With banners written in English and German, more than 200 protesters from the Macedonian diaspora opposed as they said "the unfair and unbalanced policy of the Union in terms of the political crisis in Macedonia".

"We, the Macedonians who live and work in Austria gathered in large numbers here today to protest outside the headquarters of the European Union in Vienna to express a desire to hold the elections in Macedonia on June 5 because we are fed up with the political crisis in Macedonia. We urge the EU and the international community that we had enough of their interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Macedonia", Lazo Pecev said, Macedonian who is living and working in Vienna for many years and originates from Strumica village Kolesino.

 According to unofficial figures, about 5,000 Macedonian citizens are living and working in Vienna and the surroundings. Those who protested on Friday announced a new and different measures of protests in order, as they say "to get the EU to leave Macedonia to breathe freely " and allow fair and democratic parliamentary elections on 5 June.
