Hundreds of Albanians went on the Friday's protest march, which was organized by the Association of Former Political Albanian Prisoners, veterans of the ANA, the Movement for Reforms - DPA, the National Democratic Party and many Albanian associations to express, as they say, the revolt against the current government.
The protest started around 3 pm from Bit-pazar. The group moved to the Parliament where the Struga Mayor Zijadin Sela gave a speech in which, among other things, he demanded a halt to, as he said, the set up court trials against Albanians in the case "Monster" and "Diva Naselba". The crowd chanted "Where are you, Albania, Illyrida is burning", "Ali traitor", "UCK", "Stop this system" ...
Protesters hung an Albanian flag at the monument of ASNOM in the park "Woman fighter".
"The protest is mainly oriented towards the Albanians, because they have more reasons to resentment from the rest. We will ask for what we deserve, which is the first step, for tomorrow the Albanians and Macedonians to be equal before the institutions. The flags should not be put together only on protests and then the discrimination against Albanians to continue, as it was 25 years ago", the organizers say.
They announced another protest if the DUI and VMRO-DPMNE decided to go to the elections on June 5. According to them, in Macedonia there are double standards and the Albanians are treated as second-class citizens.
The protest took place in a peaceful atmosphere.
