Macedonia's Justice Minister Valdet Xhaferi signed a memorandum on cooperation with the National Council for Gender Equality, represented by its president, Savka Todorovska.
The aim of the document is to promote the protection of women from gender based violence in line with European standards, at the same time enhancing the partner relations with the institutions from the central and local government and the civil society, the Justice Ministry said in a press release.
Training for representatives of state bodies are planned to take place in the frames of this cooperation, in order to increase the employee's knowledge on the importance and the need of proper social response against gender based violence.
The memorandum also entails realization of certain activities aimed at enhancing the current legal regulations and their harmonization with international standards, which is expected to enable appropriate protection of women who are victims of gender based violence.
